‘by the sea’ with Aberystwyth University

Following a conversation with the committee of the Elizabethan Madrigal Singers of Aberystwyth University, I have composed a short work that responds to several aspects close to the singers themselves: bursts of harmony and short melodic fragments from the Aberystywth College Song, words and responses by singers of the ensemble, and the magical setting of this university nestled in Cardigan Bay.

This work was commissioned by Aberystwyth University, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Aberystwyth Elizabethan Madrigal Singers, for performance as part of their anniversary dinner in February 2025.
